Jim "Sylvan" Sullivan

Jim “Sylvan” Sullivan is a San Francisco Bay Area native who has long been a fan of science fiction and fantasy. Jim gained the nickname Sylvan while hanging around the Varsity Theater performing the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the start of his glorious misspent youth. One of his dearest and oldest friends dragged him from fishnets and garters to the exciting world of a TimeCon. He fell in love and by 16 he was attending all the local sci-fi/fantasy conventions.

He has staffed Westercon 60, Norwescon, BayCon, PantheaCon, SiliCon, and Anime America, holding such positions as head of volunteers, hotel liaison (both for Westercon 60 and BayCon), morale officer, registration staff, convention operations staff, and dealer’s room staff. Most recently, Jim was the Chairman of Convolution's inaugural event in 2012. When not volunteering at conventions, he spends much of his time participating in Live Action Role-Playing (LARP), both as a player and a plot member. In his free time he does other geeky things: watching sci-fi TV and movies, reading, and writing short stories (one of which was even published).

Jim denies all rumors that he ever had a career pole-dancing in Bali. He maintains “ I’ve only pole danced in Sydney, honestly…”
