Douglas E. Berry is a gentleman of (medically-induced) leisure. He has been playing RPGs since 1977, and writing for them since the late 90s. His titles include At Close Quarters (BITS) and GURPS Traveller: Ground Forces (Steve Jackson Games), along with contributor credits in several other books.

Designing settings for games has led to a deep love of history. Doug lists his religion as Orthodox Baseball, Giants Synod, and will argue anything (historical, baseball-related, both or neither) at the drop of a hat. But what Doug is perhaps best known for is his perverse fascination with penguins.

A stroke in August 2013 left Doug with some persistent memory issues. He has a very hard time recognizing or remembering people, even if he’s known them for years; he also suffers from aphasia, and will occasionally stop speaking mid-sentence. Please be patient if you encounter him at the con.
